The eleventh round of Calls for Transfer (C4T) starts on 15 February 2025. For the first time, a dedicated C4T PIER PLUS funding line will extend the funding horizon this year.
The “Calls for Transfer” (C4T) funding programme is financed by the Hamburg authorities responsible for Science, Research and Equality (BWFGB) and coordinated by Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) in collaboration with Hamburg Innovation GmbH. The basic idea of C4T remains the same in the eleventh call: To support supposedly small ideas in realising really big things, innovative transfer projects from all disciplines of Hamburg's university landscape are funded. It does not matter whether the application is for a prototype, a podcast, a proof-of-concept or an exhibition format. C4T is intended to give those projects an opportunity for further development that demonstrate new perspectives, enter into unusual collaborations to overcome existing challenges and, above all, have an impact on business, science and/or society. In order to demonstrate the immense potential of bridge-building collaborations and also to further strengthen cutting-edge research from Hamburg, C4T is going one step further with the eleventh call: from 15 February 2025, interested scientists can now also apply for funding in the new C4T PIER PLUS line until 31 March 2025. This will strengthen the visibility of PIER PLUS and support the priorities of the six scientific profiles.
Breaking new ground and preserving the tried and tested
How can a comic strip provide pregnant people with barrier-free access to the topic of infection and vaccination during pregnancy? If around 25 per cent of current CO2 emissions are caused by the construction industry, what could responsible architecture of the future look like? Can the sensory experience of body prostheses help to sensitise society to the handling and integration of physical impairments? It is precisely this range of questions and approaches that the C4T funding programme will continue to support in answering and further developing. And even more: C4T is now setting new priorities and is also opening the call for research projects that are orientated towards the six PIER-PLUS profiles. With PIER PLUS Science City Bahrenfeld, PIER Health and Infection, PIER Climate and Coast, PIER Conflict, Coordination and Security, PIER Climate-friendly Mobility and PIER New Materials, all interested scientists are invited to make a new contribution to these focal points with their applications and to allow the innovative transfer potential to have an impact beyond Hamburg through cooperation.
